Red flames soar from a large passenger ship.

Black smoke and flames engulf the entire ship in an instant.

Some occupants, eagerly awaiting rescue, jumped into the sea to escape the flames.

We hear voices calling for help from all over the sea.

The lifeboats on the passenger ship did not do their job.

A fire broke out yesterday (29th) at 7 am local time on the KM Karya Inda, a passenger ship that departed from Trnate Island, North Maluku Province, Indonesia and headed for Sanana Island.

This ship departed at 5:20 pm the previous day and was scheduled to arrive at Sanana Island around 10 am yesterday.

Indonesian authorities dispatched helicopters and ships to the scene of the fire to rescue and extinguish the fire.

Fishing boats passing nearby also helped rescue them.

There were more than 20 children and the elderly on the ferry, but fortunately, 181 passengers and 14 crew members were rescued safely.

[Rescuer: So far, we are checking the rescued occupants one by one.]

Fire witnesses stated that the fire first started in the engine room.

Indonesian authorities are planning to move the burning ferry to a nearby port to investigate the exact cause of the fire.
