The Russian pirates did it again.
The same group responsible for the SolarWinds management software
attack
,
the giant attack
on US government servers, is being talked about again.
According to Microsoft, this time, more than 150 government agencies, NGOs and human rights groups were targeted.
These pirates, close to Russian intelligence, would have used the fishing method.
They managed to hack an apartment email address at UsAid, the agency for international development.
And thanks to this address, they were able to send fraudulent emails to break into the networks of other organizations.
Microsoft, which detected the attack, ensures that even if the operation was very organized, the hackers would not have had access to sensitive data.
What reprisals?
The attack comes just three weeks after the attack that targeted Colonial Pipeline and
crippled the country's largest pipeline
.
It also comes a month after Washington imposed sanctions on Moscow and expelled Russian diplomats, in response to previous hacks.
US President Joe Biden, who is due to meet Vladimir Putin in June, warned of the attacks if they continued.
It remains to be seen whether Washington will take further retaliatory measures.
