A dozen Strasbourg residents mobilized on Saturday to denounce the advertisements deemed sexist and displayed in the public space.

In particular, stickers are stuck on degrading ads for women, but also for men.

An initiative contested by some.

REPORTAGE

A punch operation was organized Saturday in Strasbourg to denounce sexist posters.

About ten of them tagged and put stickers on posters that they considered degrading for women, but also for men.

First stop in front of a large advertising board on the station square.

"We see a naked man, very well shaved, muscular. He holds with both hands a roll of toilet paper at the level of his genitalia. And the slogan just above says: 'the summer is going to be fine'" , describes a participant.

"It should be banned because the product represents 10% of the ad surface. I don't even understand the ad," commented another.

Stickers and felt-tip comments to alert

They then stick a sticker with "sexist" writing on the advertisement, and write comments with an erasable marker: "hyper virility" or "man object".

"We want people to be able to say to themselves 'is it normal to see these kind of images today? Is it healthy?'", Explains another participant at the microphone of Europe 1.

A little further, same verdict for a poster of perfume for women, which gently laughs Pierre, a Strasbourg citizen opposed to this collective. So, with a sponge and soap, he carefully erases the inscriptions drawn a few minutes earlier: "I am against sexism, but in that case, I would ask them to go for example tagging the Venus de Milo, Michelangelo's David. There is too much Manichaeism in their reactions ", he says, specifying that the erasable marker goes off" very easily ". This little cat and mouse game lasted a good part of the afternoon.
