The fire alarm went off at half past one, the night before Saturday, and according to the police, it was a burning projectile of some kind that was shot or thrown through a window in the villa outside Kalix.
It started to burn in the villa, but when the rescue service arrived at the scene, the fire was already extinguished.
"An ordinary family"
According to on-duty preliminary investigation leader Kjell Persson at the police in Norrbotten, the burning projectile was shot or thrown into a room where a small child was sleeping, but no one was injured.
- We classify this as arson, but there is no reasonable explanation for why this has happened.
It is so stupid, so reckless that it is not true, says Kjell Persson.
Shocked
He says that the family is still shocked by what happened.
- There is no threat against anyone in the family.
The whole thing is very strange and at the moment there is no suspect either, but we are happy to receive tips from the public if anyone knows anything about this, says Kjell Persson.
