Three years ago, IVO, the Swedish Health and Care Inspectorate, received information that a doctor in Eskilstuna had prescribed drug-classified drugs to a person with substance abuse.

This prompted an examination by the doctor.

Person with substance abuse problems

The review shows that the doctor has been generous in prescribing drug-classified drugs.

It is often about large amounts, including to a person with substance abuse problems.

In addition to the doctor, according to IVO, being far too generous with the drugs, he must have failed in follow-up, and there are shortcomings in medical records.

Fracture in 13 patient cases

IVO believes that the doctor acted in violation of science and proven experience in a total of 13 patient cases.

The review led to IVO making a report to HSAN.

The responsible committee agrees with IVO and has now decided to give the doctor a probationary period of three years.

During the trial period, the doctor must be supervised by a professional specialist in general medicine - and the supervision must be followed up.

The doctor has on several points objected to IVO's review, but it is not something that HSAN has taken into account.
