Xinhua News Agency, Dakar, May 28 (Reporter Xing Jianqiao) Bamako: The Constitutional Court of Mali announced on the evening of the 28th that in view of Bar Endo's resignation as the transitional president, Transitional Vice President Asimi Goita will take over the transition. The presidency, his term of office ends at the end of the political transition period in Mali.

  According to the Constitution of Mali, once the presidency is vacant, the President of the National Assembly will be the president.

The Constitutional Court of Mali stated that, according to the recommendations made by the Office of the Transitional Vice President, since the vacant position is the Transitional President and the Transitional Government has been disbanded, the Transitional Vice President will take over the post of Transitional President.

  On the afternoon of the 28th, after meeting with various political factions in Mali, Goita announced that the new Malian transitional prime minister would be selected by the former opposition organization "June 5 Movement-Union of Patriotic Forces".

Goita told the media that he will appoint a new transitional prime minister in the next few days. His task is to promote extensive consultations among all social classes to establish an inclusive and broad consensus transitional government.

  The "June 5th Movement-Patriotic Forces Alliance" held a press conference on the same day and said that the organization had reached a consensus and would recommend Joey Kokara Maiga, chairman of its strategy committee, as the candidate for transitional prime minister.

  In August 2020, a military mutiny occurred in Mali.

In September of the same year, the National People’s Redemption Committee, established by mutinous soldiers, announced that the former Minister of Defense and Veterans Ndo was appointed as the Transitional President, and the Chairman of the National People’s Redemption Committee, Goita, was appointed as the Transitional Vice President.

  On May 24 this year, Endo signed a presidential decree announcing the list of the new transitional government, but two members of the former National People’s Redemption Committee did not enter the list.

Subsequently, Endo and Transitional Prime Minister Mocta Vane were taken by soldiers to a military camp about 15 kilometers away from the capital Bamako to "communicate" on the list of the new transitional government.

On the 25th, Goita issued a statement stating that Endo and Vane have been relieved of their positions to facilitate the smooth political transition in Mali.

On the 26th, the Malian military said that Endo and Vane had resigned on the same day.
