The leader of the New Right party, Naftali Bennett, agreed, on Friday, to join forces with the leader of the "There is a future" party, Yair Lapid, to form a government in Israel, which they would chair in rotation, according to Israeli media.

The private Israeli Channel (12) reported that the announcement of the coalition will take place within the next two days (no later than Sunday), and both will be installed within 10 days by President Reuven Rivlin.

She added that the agreement provides for Bennett (who won 7 seats in the Knesset) to become prime minister until September 2023, then Lapid (who won 17 seats) will take his place until November 2025.

Earlier, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu - in a video posted on Twitter - referred to the alliance between Lapid and Bennett, saying, "It is an unimaginable fraud."

He added that it is a clear violation of all the promises that Bennett made to himself several weeks ago, when he said during the war against the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) that the left-wing government had lost its chances, so what has changed now?

Netanyahu had failed to form a government that has the confidence of the Knesset (Parliament), on the fourth of this month, and as a result, President Rivlin assigned Lapid to form a government within 28 days.

In the event that Lapid fails to form a government, the Israeli president has only choice, which is to re-assign the Knesset.

In such a case, the Knesset will have two options: either it finds among its members someone who is able to form a government that enjoys the confidence of 61 deputies, or it goes to new elections, which is the most likely option, according to observers.

Israel had witnessed 4 elections since April 2019, as a result of the failure of those charged with forming it to obtain the required confidence from the Knesset (61 members of parliament).
