Lekeberg municipality will introduce free menstrual protection in all of the municipality's 250 student and staff toilets.

The decision is formally hammered out on 1 June in the Municipal Executive Board, but since the majority has already supported the proposal, it will be rejected.

- It is a way to make it a little more equal in the municipality, states Johan Niklasson (C).

This is something that boys do not have to think about at all, so we try to make it easier for women and girls and also de-dramatize questions about menstruation.

Installed in the fall

An estimate is that the cost ends up at SEK 75,000 a year.

- But it is something we have to evaluate so that we have a more secure figure for next year's budget.

Even if the decision is made in June, it will require procurement and installation of containers for menstrual protection, so only in the autumn are the first ones expected to sit up.
