According to US media reports, Manuel Ellis, an African-American man in Tacoma, Washington, died when he was arrested by the police in March last year.

After that, the three police officers involved were charged.

On the 28th local time, the three police officers pleaded not guilty at the local high court.

Tacoma police said that on March 3 last year, the police pushed Ellis to the ground and put him in handcuffs when he was suspected of assaulting a policeman.

Soon after, Ellis lost consciousness, rescue failed, and died on the spot.

Witnesses said that Ellis was beaten by the police at the time of the incident and said that he could not breathe.

An autopsy report released later showed that Ellis died of respiratory arrest due to lack of oxygen due to his body being suppressed.

On the 28th, Ellis’ sister Carter Mickelson stated that Ellis’ death was the responsibility of the police and the police involved should be punished by law.

Ellis’ sister Carter Mickelson: I hope they (the police involved) can stay in jail like the people who are here now.

I am very sad.

The court considered the good things these police had done before to reduce their security deposits, but they (the court) did not consider what happened to my brother was completely wrong.

My brother also has children, why can't his children see him again?

Currently, two of the three police officers involved are charged with second-degree murder and one is charged with manslaughter.

On the 28th, the three police officers pleaded not guilty in the court, and the judge set the bail money at $100,000 each.

Shortly after Ellis' death, another African-American man, Freud, was kneeled and killed by the police, triggering a large-scale continuous wave of protests.
