China News Service, Beijing, May 29 (Reporter Kan Feng) May 29 this year marks the 40th anniversary of the death of Mr. Soong Ching Ling.

Forty years ago, this great woman with a world-renowned reputation in the 20th century, at the last moment of her life, realized a long-cherished wish of joining the Communist Party of China.

Soong Ching Ling is known as "the treasure of the country", and her legendary life is closely connected with the destiny of the country and nation.

During the arduous revolutionary career, she and the Communist Party of China formed "close comrades-in-arms" who shared the honor and disgrace with each other.

In the second half of Soong Ching Ling's life, she expressed her wish to join the Communist Party of China many times.

Soon after the founding of New China, Soong Ching Ling wrote a letter to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in March 1950, explaining once again his intention to join the party.

In fact, although he is a non-party person, the CCP has long treated Soong Ching Ling as a comrade in the party.

As Mao Zedong said to her, "During the revolutionary war, you were actually one of the outstanding leaders of our party."

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Soong Ching Ling served as a national leader for a long time. Although he was outside the party, all important documents within the party would be sent for review.

In October 1957, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China decided to form a high-level delegation to Moscow to participate in the 40th anniversary of the victory of the October Revolution.

As the head of the delegation, Mao Zedong specially nominated Song Qingling as the deputy head of the delegation.

Soong Ching Ling's important position in the minds of the Communists can be seen.

In May 1981, 88-year-old Soong Ching Ling was critically ill.

On May 15th, Soong Ching Ling, who was on the sick bed, was unable to speak but nodded repeatedly when asked if he still had the idea of joining the party.

In the afternoon of the same day, the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee held an emergency meeting to make a resolution to accept Soong Ching Ling as a member of the Communist Party of China.

On May 29, 15 days later, Soong Ching Ling passed away.

At the memorial meeting, Deng Xiaoping delivered a eulogy on behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China: "Comrade Soong Ching Ling was accepted as an official member of the Communist Party of China shortly before his death, fulfilling her long-cherished wish. This is the glory of Comrade Soong Ching Ling and the glory of the Communist Party of China."

In his life, Mr. Soong Ching Ling focused on the overall situation of the revolution, took national justice as the mind, and put the country's development first, and played an irreplaceable role.

After her death, the Communist Party of China, the National People's Congress, and the State Council set up an inscription to commemorate her: Soong Ching Ling is a great fighter of patriotism, democracy, internationalism, and communism.

The great achievements she has made for the country and the people will be forever recorded in the annals of history.

Looking back at the centuries of party history of the Chinese Communist Party, countless patriotic democrats have fought side by side with the Chinese Communist Party in spite of bloody winds and fears of difficulties and obstacles, and have formed the most extensive united front for national salvation and national rejuvenation. This has also created a magic weapon for the CCP to gather strength and defeat the enemy. (Finish)
