Wall Street was on the rise Friday morning for the last session of the week, showing optimism despite a sharp acceleration in US inflation over one year in April.

Around 13:55 GMT, the Dow Jones rose by 0.39% to 34,599.45 points, the Nasdaq, with a strong technological coloring, gained 0.35% to 13,783.89 points and the extended S&P 500 index appreciated by 0, 25% to 4,216.54 points.

Prices saw their biggest annual increase since 2007 in the United States, climbing 3.6% last month, according to the Commerce Department's PCE index released on Friday.

Without volatile energy and food prices, so-called core inflation is 3.1%.

Over one month, it is 0.6%, as in March.

"The main lesson from this report should be the sharp acceleration in inflation," notes Patrick O'Hare of Briefing.com.

"However, the calm with which the bond market has reacted gives the stock market the feeling that the real lesson is the lasting belief that the acceleration in inflation will be temporary, as suggested by the Fed," adds Mr. O'Hare.

The 10-year rate on US Treasuries was indeed down slightly, to 1.60%, against 1.61% the night before.

The PCE index also showed a fall in household income (-13.1%) and a slowdown in expenditure growth (+ 0.5%, against + 4.7% in March).

Several companies also published their results Thursday evening, including software publisher Salesforce (+ 7.14%) and beauty products specialist Ulta Beauty (+ 5.97%), both of which easily exceeded expectations. of the market.

Among the other values of the day, Boeing was down 1.18%.

The aircraft manufacturer said on Friday it was passing more information to the US aviation regulator about production issues that have plagued the long-haul 787 Dreamliner, whose deliveries have, according to the Wall Street Journal, been again interrupted.

The chain of cinemas AMC (+ 28.85%) continued its crazy flight after having already taken more than 35% the day before and nearly 180% since the beginning of the week.

Despite the gloomy performance of the company, AMC stock is prized by an army of stock marketers, very active on a forum on the Reddit site.

The New York stock exchange will be closed on Monday, a public holiday in the United States, and will reopen on Tuesday morning.
