Since Thursday morning, metro line 2 has stopped between Epeule-Montesquieu and Colbert stations, in Roubaix, we learned from the public transport delegatee for the Lille metropolitan area, Ilévia.

Work could be the cause of degradation of the concrete in a tunnel.

After hoping for a resumption of traffic on Thursday, Ilévia finally resolved not to give a deadline.

Relay buses are set up to transport travelers for an indefinite period.

Because the problem detected on metro line 2 is not really trivial.

"Ilévia took the decision to interrupt traffic after noticing crumbling due to an alteration of the concrete structure of the metro tunnel between the Roubaix Charles de Gaulle and Eurotéléport stations", explains the delegatee.

Expertise and work in progress

Thursday afternoon, experts were sent to the site to assess the damage.

According to the first observations, the alteration of the tunnel "would be due to work carried out on a site on the surface", advance Ilévia.

It will now be for the experts to "determine the consequences of this alteration".

Pending their final report, the technical teams began work to consolidate the structure, which continued this Friday morning.

No deadline for resuming traffic has yet been communicated.
