The airline SAS reports a large loss for the second quarter of the company's broken financial year.

The loss before tax landed at SEK 2,361 million for the quarter ended in April.

However, this is a reduction of the loss compared with last year when it landed at SEK 3,722 million.

Revenues plummeted from SEK 5,264 million to SEK 1,932 billion.

The acting CEO Karl Sandlund states in the report that the company is still strongly negatively affected by the pandemic.

“The spread of infection, delayed vaccinations and continued severe travel restrictions have led to a slower-than-desirable recovery.

Ahead of the important summer season, however, SAS is ready to welcome our customers on board again in line with eased restrictions, ”writes Sandlund.

On Wednesday, it was announced that the major owners, the Swedish and Danish states, had agreed on a new support package for SAS.

SAS now has the opportunity to borrow an additional, up to SEK 3 billion in credit support to create a liquidity buffer.

Sweden will contribute half, SEK 1.5 billion.

It is based on an agreement between the government, the Center Party and the Liberals.
