The Afghan Ministry of National Defense issued a statement on May 25, local time, stating that in the past 24 hours, Afghan government forces have carried out operations in multiple provinces and killed a total of 162 Taliban fighters.
The statement said that government forces launched operations against Taliban forces in Nangarhar and other provinces.
In addition to killing 162 Taliban fighters, government forces also injured 129 Taliban fighters.
The statement also stated that the government forces destroyed a Taliban "prison" in Herat Province and rescued 41 detainees including 19 soldiers in their operations on the evening of the 24th.
The United States and NATO troops began to withdraw formally from Afghanistan on May 1, and plan to withdraw all by September 11.
Recently, there have been continuous domestic attacks in Afghanistan, and the security situation has deteriorated day by day.
