Head of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Ismail Haniyeh, received an Egyptian invitation to visit Cairo, to discuss the confirmation of the ceasefire agreement with Israel and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said that Haniyeh's visit to Cairo comes to complement Egypt's efforts in - what he called - to curb the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, and to pursue its role in the reconstruction efforts.

He added that Haniyeh would visit Cairo, heading a high-level delegation from the movement, in the coming days, without specifying a date.

In the past two days, an Egyptian security delegation held talks with Hamas leaders in Gaza, as part of the consultations to confirm the truce that was announced last Friday, after the Israeli aggression on Gaza, which lasted 11 days.

Since April 13, the situation in the Palestinian territories has exploded as a result of the Israeli violations in the Al-Aqsa Mosque and in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of Jerusalem, in an attempt to evacuate 12 Palestinian homes and hand them over to settlers.

And the Israeli aggression extended to Gaza, and included aerial, land and sea bombardment, which resulted in 254 martyrs, including 66 children, 39 women, and 17 elderly people, while the number of injuries reached 1948, according to the Ministry of Health in the Strip.
