National Intelligence Service Chief Park Ji-won arrived in New York, USA a little while ago, and started his visit to the US. As it is right after the Korea-US summit, it seems that we will meet with the US intelligence authorities and discuss the issue with North Korea.

This is Kim Jong-won's correspondent from New York.

<Reporter> After

arriving at the New York airport, NIS Chief Park Ji-won left the airport without answering any questions from reporters asking about the schedule for his visit to the United States.

[Director Park Ji-won: (What is your purpose of visiting the US?)… … .]

Director Park is keeping the entire visit to the US in top secret, such as saving his words even when departing from Incheon International Airport.

The possibility of direct contact with the North has also been raised.

It is in front of the North Korean UN representative in New York.

There have been observations that Park is in direct contact with the North Korean UN representative here, but no movement has been detected.

It is an observation that Park's direct contact with the North is unlikely as the so-called'New York Channel', a window for dialogue between North America, has not been operational for a while.

Director Park is expected to move to Washington DC afterwards to meet with officials from US intelligence agencies, including US counterpart William Burns, CIA Director, to discuss the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

In addition, there is a possibility to meet Sung Kim, the special representative of the US State Department toward North Korea.

As Director Park's visit to the United States continues immediately after the ROK-US summit, there is a prospect that there will be several follow-up measures to resume dialogue with North Korea.
