China News Service, May 27. According to the Japanese "Chinese Herald" report, how to get high-level foreign talents to take root in Japan is one of the urgent issues for the Japanese government to solve in the "post 300,000 foreign students" era.

In order to help foreign students successfully find employment in Japan and increase their employment success rate in Japan, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan recently stated that a set of training courses to support the employment of foreign students are being widely implemented in various places.

In June 2019, there were about 337,000 foreigners in Japan holding study visas. They have reached the "300,000 international student plan" set by the Japanese government in 2008, but how to achieve the "quantity to quality" transformation of foreign students? To enable them to use their talents and skills to stimulate the vitality and growth potential of Japan's domestic economy, the Japanese government can be said to have racked their brains.

The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare stated that 65% of students studying in Japan hope to find employment in Japan after graduation, but the actual employment rate is only 37%, and the data is not ideal.

According to a survey published by the Japanese employment information company "DISCO" in August 2020, as of July of the same year, the default rate for foreign graduates in 2021 was 31.5%, compared with 77.7% for Japanese students.

In addition, the Japan Student Services Organization also released a set of data in December 2020: The total number of foreign graduates in the single year of Heisei 30 (2018) was about 60,000, about 32,000 for junior colleges, and about 27,000 for universities. There are about 20,000 people who have successfully found jobs in Japan, about 1.1 thousand in junior colleges, and about 9,000 in universities, with an employment rate of about 35%.

The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare believes that this is mainly caused by foreign students' unfamiliarity with Japan's corporate culture, values, and Japan's special job search procedures.

Therefore, it is imperative to use a complete set of employment support training courses to systematically teach foreign students the knowledge of employment.

On May 14, 2021, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare introduced the current implementation of the "Domestic Employment Training Course for Foreign Students in Japan" at the "4th Seminar on Measures for Employment of Foreigners".

Through understanding, the employment support training course is divided into two categories: "employment activity preparation course" and "employment activity and post-decision course". The former is provided to college students in grades 1-2 and the latter is for students in grades 3-4. Object.

"Employment activity preparation courses" include "education to guide foreign students in early employment activities", etc.; "employment activities and post-independence courses" are to give students relevant employment information and help students integrate into the employment enterprise as soon as possible.

The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare stated that the employment support training course has been carried out in the career planning centers of universities, local public organizations, and private companies for foreign students and unemployed trainees.

In addition, foreign employment service centers (Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka) will also provide this training to foreign students.

In recent years, the Japanese government has been trying to improve the employment of foreign students.

For example, open "student corners" in the "graduate support HELLO WORK" in major cities in Japan; establish a joint government-academic agreement to meet a series of employment-related needs of foreign students from the initial stage of studying abroad to the successful job search and job placement; The scope of employment for foreign students graduating from universities and graduate schools in Japan. In principle, foreign students who have obtained the "N1" level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test will no longer be bound by their majors, and they can use Japanese in restaurants, retail stores, etc. Customer’s industry employment, etc.

It is reported that the current goal of the Japanese government is to consider increasing the employment rate of foreign students in Japan to 50%.
