- Yes, in this case it is probably so, says Lena Abrahamsson.

The researcher believes that many places in the interior of Norrbotten and Västerbotten have a tradition of making men visible in society, sports and the arts to a greater extent than women.



- It is the story you have, that society is for white, middle-aged men, she says.

The researcher on Gällivare: "Some challenges"

Lena Abrahamsson has, among other things, researched social sustainability and mining towns.

She believes that it is very important that a society has an open social culture and an inclusive attitude among citizens.

She clarifies that it is about everything from clothing style to hobbies.

- There are even smaller communities that have greater challenges, such as Pajala, she says, but they still have some challenges in Gällivare.

At LTU, various types of research are underway linked to the industrial investments made in the north.

Some current areas are mines, digitization and future work.
