May 26, 2021 European stock exchanges were slightly up in the first hours of trading.

Now they are down: in Milan -0.18% for the Ftse Mib index, in line with those of London (-0.22%) and Frankfurt (-0.13%).

The Cac40 in Paris is slightly above par.

On the other hand, the futures anticipating the opening of Wall Street, after yesterday's decline, linked to fears for inflation, are slightly positive because new data have signaled that house prices in the United States are rising more than expected.

The price of gold is highlighted, which is trading at 1908 dollars an ounce: the yellow metal returns above the levels of the beginning of the year.

A trend that some analysts relate to the drop in the price of Bitcoin.

The banking sector is under observation in Piazza Affari. Yesterday Unipol (today -2.7% on the stock exchange), the largest shareholder of Bper Banca (-4.09%), announced an operation that would make Unipol the first shareholder of Banca Popolare di Sondrio (-0.7%) ), with 9.5% of the shares.

If we went towards a merger between Bper and Popolare di Sondrio, new scenarios would open up in banking risk: investors are now looking at Banco Bpm (-0.35%), Unicredit (-2.18%) and Mps (-1 %). At the beginning, there were some upsides, especially for Sondrio and Banco Bpm, but the shares returned to the downside, in line with the sector index at European level, the Stoxx Banks, -1.60%.
