It is noted that amendments will be made to the laws "On weapons" and "On the basics of protecting the health of citizens in the Russian Federation."

“The bill assumes that ... a new concept will be introduced -“ medical contraindications to the possession of a weapon ”.

The list of such contraindications will be determined by the Russian government, ”the statement on the State Duma website says.

A medical examination in accordance with the new standards will only be possible in state or municipal institutions.

In addition, the examination will include chemical and toxicological studies, as well as psychological testing. 

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed to seriously increase the requirements for the owners of civilian weapons and tighten control over their circulation.

It was also reported that the director of the Russian Guard, Viktor Zolotov, considers it necessary to return to the age limit of 21 in order to obtain a weapon permit.
