Since Monday evening, the president and the Prime Minister of the transition have been held by soldiers in the Kati base, a few kilometers from Bamako.

Tuesday, Colonel Assimi Goïta, vice-president of the transition and leader of the junta which led the putsch of August 2020, "relieved them of their prerogatives".

A situation that worries several civil society organizations, as well as the main trade union center in the country.

If the Malian political class remains cautiously silent, civil society has, on the other hand, spoken out.

In a statement, the Malian Association for Human Rights "

 vehemently condemns this coup

".

Just like the National Human Rights Commission, which condemns these illegal and arbitrary arrests and calls for the immediate release of the President and the Prime Minister, as well as the return to institutional order.

The simple fact of trying to get out of respect for the fundamental texts is chaos, uncertainty, it is a leap into the void.

We are there to fight over questions of positions while the country is at the bottom of the abyss.

The Coordination of movements, associations and sympathizers of Imam Mahmoud Dicko declares "to

follow the events

" and asks "

to its base to remain mobilized for all useful purposes

 ".

The National Union of Workers of Mali suspended its strike slogan.

The UNTM launched a general strike on Monday after the failure of negotiations with the government on salaries, bonuses and allowances.

The union, which brings together employees from the public and private sectors, does not wish to increase the workers' difficulties, even though no negotiations are possible, for lack of interlocutor.

As of today, we have no contact.

Given this situation, we have decided not to further penalize our activists and the population in general.

And as soon as a new power is put in place, we will come back to the charge.

We do not see in terms of people but in terms of authorities opposite to discuss.

The former president of Nigeria and ECOWAS mediator, Goodluck Jonathan arrived in Bamako on Tuesday evening to start discussions.

He must meet with the military, representatives of civil society and leaders.

But for the moment, of what is happening in Kati, where the transitional president and the prime minister were taken, nothing is leaking.
