May 26, 2021 The legal matter involving the mayor of Rome, Virginia Raggi, in relation to an appointment at the Campidoglio ends. From today the acquittal sentence reaffirmed last December by the Court of Appeal of the Capital is in fact final. The Attorney General did not appeal to the Supreme Court and therefore the sentence passed unjustified.

Raggi had been accused by the Public Prosecutor of forgery for the appointment (later withdrawn) of Renato Marra, brother of the then head of the Capitol Staff Raffaele, head of the tourism department of the Municipality. In the first instance, the mayor was acquitted, in November 2018, with the formula "because the fact does not constitute a crime".
