25 May 2021 - UEFA breaks the delay and continues its battle against the last rebel clubs in the Super League. From Nyon they announce that a position has been taken with regard to the three clubs that have not yet disassociated themselves from the Super League: Juve, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

"Following an investigation conducted by the inspectors of the Uefa ethics and discipline commission in relation to the so-called Superlega project, disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus for a potential violation of the UEFA legal framework". This is what is stated in a note from the governing body of European football. UEFA clarifies that "further information will be made available in due course".

Last May 12, UEFA had appointed the inspectors who dealt with the disciplinary investigation, while a few days earlier an agreement was signed with the other nine clubs, including Inter and Milan, who had definitively abandoned the project by deciding to re-enter under Uefa aegis.

This is the last step of Uefa against the project born in mid-April with the adhesion of 12 teams and vanished within a few hours with the withdrawal of the 6 English teams (Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, Manchester Utd and Tottenham), of Inter, Milan and Atlético Madrid.

UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin has threatened Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus with a resounding exclusion from competitions for one or two seasons if they do not withdraw their intentions to create a parallel competition.

What is looming is a long legal battle, with the three clubs that could appeal to the Tas of Lausanne in case of exclusion from the next Champions League.
