“Having learned about the decision of the Latvian government and the official recommendations of the Latvian Civil Aviation Administration, the Latvian airline airBaltic announces the suspension of all flights from Riga to Minsk from May 27, 2021 until further notice,” the company said in a press release.

The airline clarified that this decision affects 126 flights between Riga and Minsk, the implementation of which was planned until the end of October.

Earlier airBaltic decided not to fly over Belarus.

The Ryanair plane, flying from Athens to Vilnius, on May 23 urgently landed in Minsk due to a report of a bomb on board.

Information about mining was not confirmed.

The founder of the NEXTA Telegram channel recognized in Belarus as extremist, Roman Protasevich, was flying in the liner, who was detained after landing.

The airline said that the plane was urgently landed due to the instructions of the Belarusian air traffic controllers.
