I recently announced that the Korean government will take an official response to Japan's marking Dokdo as if it were Japanese land on the Tokyo Olympics website.

As a result of additional interviews, it was confirmed that Japan has revealed that it cannot accept the demands of the Korean government.

Kwak Sang-eun is the reporter's exclusive report.

<Reporter> An

island blurred on the map of Japan posted on the official website of the Tokyo Olympics.

After confirming that this island is Dokdo, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs protested against the Japanese Embassy in Korea yesterday (24th).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs demanded immediate correction, saying, "It is never acceptable to mark Dokdo as Japanese territory."

The Korea Sports Association also sent an official letter to the Japan Olympic Committee yesterday morning with the same content.

However, it was confirmed as a result of SBS interview that the Japanese side conveyed the meaning of "We cannot accept the assertion of the Korean government and the Korean Sports Association" through diplomatic channels.

A senior official at the Japanese Embassy in Korea told SBS that "the Japanese government's position on the Dokdo issue is clear."

Earlier, Japan rejected a request for correction of a Japanese map that marked Dokdo last year.

[Suga/Japanese Prime Minister (Remarks in July 2019, then Secretary of State): (The Korean claim) is completely unacceptable and extremely regrettable in light of the Japanese position regarding Dokdo sovereignty. I strongly protest.] The

government is in a position to continue raising the issue, but it is highly likely that the Suga government, whose government support is low, will survive.

[Lee Won-deok/Professor, Department of Japanese Studies, Kookmin University: Looking at the current situation of the Suga government, Japanese public opinion is more important, and relations with Korea will not be more important. From the current situation of the protest, it seems that there is not much space to be reflected.]

The International Olympic Committee's IOC is also known to be passive in arbitration by insisting on'political neutrality', and there is a growing possibility that the conflict between Korea and Japan over the'Map of Dokdo Island' will prolong.
