China News Service, Wuhan, May 25 (Reporter Zhang Qin) The Yangtze River Water Conservancy Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources of China issued a news on the 25th that at 14:00 on May 24, the Yangtze River Committee initiated the fourth-level emergency response to flood and drought disaster prevention in the Yangtze River Basin.

  According to hydrological monitoring, on the 24th, a total of 7 stations in the Yangtze River Basin were over-alarmed. The over-alarm stations were mainly distributed in the main tributaries of the Xinjiang, Xiuhe, Changjiang and Le'an Rivers in the Poyang Lake system. Among them, the Xiuhe and Le'an River control stations Qiujin Station and Hu The water level of the mountain station was 20.68 meters and 27.96 meters, respectively, which exceeded the alarm by 0.16 meters and 1.96 meters respectively.

In accordance with the relevant provisions of the "Prevention Plan for Flood and Drought Disaster Prevention in the Yangtze River Basin (Trial)", the Yangtze River Committee has decided to initiate a Level IV emergency response to flood and drought disaster prevention in the Yangtze River Basin at 14:00 on May 24.

  At present, the water level of the main control stations in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River is about 2.3-4.1 meters higher than the same period in history, and 4.6-7.0 meters higher than the same period in 2020.

Among them, the current water levels of Qilishan Station, Hukou Station and Hankou Station ranked second in the historical sequence of the highest water level in May (all lower than in 2002).

According to meteorological and hydrological forecasts, in the coming week, there will be heavy rainfall in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and to the south. The rainfall intensity will be mainly heavy rain, and local heavy rain may occur.

  In view of the current increasingly severe flood control situation, the Yangtze River Committee requires relevant localities and departments to further tighten their responsibilities, do a good job of 24-hour duty and information reporting, strengthen monitoring, forecasting and early warning, strengthen scientific dispatch of water engineering, and strengthen inspections and defenses of dike waterproof reservoirs. Efforts will be made to prevent floods and mountain torrents from small and medium-sized rivers, to ensure the safety of reservoirs during floods, and to ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
