China News Agency, Beijing, May 24. The spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs made a statement on the 74th World Health Conference on Taiwan-related issues on the 24th.

The spokesperson said that the General Committee and the plenary session of the 74th World Health Assembly just held respectively decided to explicitly reject the so-called "inviting Taiwan to participate in the WHO Assembly as an observer" proposal made by individual countries on the agenda of the Assembly.

This fully shows that the one-China principle is the aspiration and general trend of the international community, and there is no room for any challenge.

The spokesperson pointed out that, regardless of the wishes of all parties and the well-being of Taiwan compatriots, the DPP authorities insisted on instigating their so-called "states with diplomatic relations" to engage in Taiwan-related proposals. Some countries explicitly and secretly supported instigation and contributed to the situation.

This is an act that goes against the historical trend and is unanimously opposed by countries upholding a just stand of justice in the world.

Before the opening of this conference, more than 150 countries expressed their support for China's decision through diplomatic channels.

More than 80 countries wrote to the WHO specifically to express their adherence to the one-China principle and their opposition to Taiwan’s participation in the World Health Organization.

The spokesperson emphasized that the Chinese central government attaches great importance to the health and well-being of Taiwan compatriots.

Under the premise of the one-China principle, proper arrangements have been made for Taiwan's participation in global health affairs.

After the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia, the Chinese central government has notified the Taiwan region of the epidemic 260 times, and approved Taiwan's health experts to participate in WHO's technical activities 16 times.

There is a contact point for the International Health Regulations in Taiwan, and the exchange of information with the World Health Organization and other countries is unimpeded and the mechanism is complete.

The so-called "gap in the international epidemic prevention system" is simply nonsense.

The spokesman said that we once again urge the DPP authorities that there is absolutely no way out for "using the epidemic to seek independence."

China also urges individual countries to stop politicizing health issues and stop interfering in China's internal affairs through the Taiwan issue, otherwise they will only shoot themselves in the foot and be doomed to fail.
