  China News Service, Taipei, May 24. The Taiwan Epidemic Command Center announced on the 24th that on the 24th, Taiwan added 334 newly confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia, 5 imported cases, 6 deaths, and 256 corrected return cases.

  According to reports from the Central News Agency and the United Daily News, the age of the newly added 334 local cases was between 5 and 80 years old, and the onset date was between May 10 and 23.

The confirmed cases include personnel from public institutions such as the Taipei MRT cleaning and security front-line personnel.

New Taipei City has the largest case distribution with 177 cases, followed by Taipei City with 99 cases, Taoyuan City with 19 cases, Changhua County with 12 cases, Keelung City and Taichung City with 7 cases, Kaohsiung City with 5 cases, Pingtung County and Tainan City with 3 cases each, 1 case each in Nantou County and Hsinchu County.

  Among the cases of adjusted regression, 148 cases were in Taipei City, followed by 99 cases in New Taipei City.

  It is reported that the Taipei and New Taipei areas have been upgraded to the third level of alert since the 15th, but the number of local confirmed cases is still high at this stage.

The number of infected persons in areas outside of Wanhua District of Taipei City and Banqiao District of New Taipei City, where there are more cases, is also on the rise. Some experts question the spread of the epidemic.

  Following the 6 new deaths in Taiwan on the 23rd, which was the highest in a single day, 6 new deaths were added on the 24th, ranging from 60 to 70 years old.

The command center stated that, except for one person who died before going to the hospital, all the others died after being diagnosed after the illness.

  So far, Taiwan has a total of 4,917 confirmed cases, including 3,748 local cases and 29 deaths.

  In addition, Kinmen County announced on the 23rd that passengers arriving in gold from the 24th must attach a negative test for COVID-19 within 3 days or receive a quick screening.

This action was determined by the command center on the 24th as not following the command center’s instructions and violating the Law on Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases, and was revoked.

Officials of the command center reiterated that the whole Taiwan should "have the same standards, the same statements, and the same steps."

Chen Shizhong, the person in charge of the center, also said that it is up to experts to discuss whether the means should be so strong.

  The command center said on the 23rd that it would issue guidelines for quick screening, but it still failed to announce that day.
