China News Service, Guangzhou, May 24 (Cai Minjie) As epidemic prevention and control become normal, people's skin care habits and concepts are changing.

May 25 is the National Skin Care Day. The Dermatologists Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association has recently jointly released the results of a survey on the scientific skin care habits of residents across the country in the post-epidemic era.

The results show that 26.6% of people think that their skin is worse than before the epidemic; some residents wearing masks can cause facial skin, respiratory tract and eye sensitivity and discomfort, and the longer the mask is worn, these problems will occur. The higher the probability of the problem, facial sensitivity is the most common, and it is often manifested as itching and redness of the skin.

The above survey conducted an online questionnaire survey among more than 6,600 participants, and collected consumer feedback on skin problems caused by lifestyle changes such as wearing masks for a long time.

During the epidemic prevention period, as the wearing of masks becomes more and more normal, people are increasingly discussing the symptoms of "mask face" and related skin repair problems.

The problems generally reported by the residents surveyed above include: enlarged pores, pigment accumulation and facial dullness, acne outbreaks, closed mouth and acne, oily face, dry face, thinning of the stratum corneum or skin barrier, and skin discoloration. Redness or red blood streaks, itchy skin, mask irritation and discomfort, etc.

The survey found that 92.3% of respondents wear ordinary medical masks, but there are also many people who use sponge masks and cotton masks.

The longer the wearing time, the higher the risk of skin problems such as acne pus, erythema and edema, itching and tingling, dry desquamation and other symptoms.

Yang Bin, dean of the Dermatology Hospital of Southern Medical University, said that for the sake of skin health, the general public can shorten the wearing time of masks in a safe environment. After sweating, they should dry their skin and replace the mask in time.

In addition, you can apply moisturizing lotion to the face once before wearing a mask, and pay attention to the protection of the nose pads or ear wearing parts.

Because the most commonly used medical masks have a water-blocking layer, they are relatively suffocating, and the weather is hot and easy to sweat. Some people wear a layer of cotton masks or put a layer of paper towels inside the medical masks, thinking that strengthening protection can absorb sweat.

"This is not recommended." Yang Bin pointed out that first, the tightness of the mask is the key to effectively blocking the virus. Wearing an extra layer of mask or pad of paper towels can affect the tightness of the external medical mask and cannot be effectively protected; secondly, This will increase the resistance to breathing, and people will instinctively increase and deepen their breathing, which not only affects the health of the body, but also affects the adhesion of the mask; in addition, the skin itself contains water to achieve a barrier function, and cotton cloth and paper towels absorb sweat. "Soaking" the skin, or drying out after a long time takes away the skin's own moisture, both of which will destroy the barrier function, and dry skin is more likely to cause problems. (Finish)
