The Iraqi Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein - in a joint press conference with his Palestinian counterpart, Riyad Al-Maliki - said that there is an Iraqi consensus to support the Palestinian cause.

Because it is an emotional issue, while Al-Maliki stressed that the Palestinian leadership is working to reconstruct the Gaza Strip and form a government of national accord.

Hussein added that the recent victory achieved by the Palestinian people must be properly invested. He also stressed the need to achieve unity of the Palestinian ranks, and called for a correct and frank dialogue between the Palestinians to reach a national unity government.

He pointed out that the next first meeting of the joint Iraqi-Palestinian committee will be held soon in Ramallah.

For his part, Al-Maliki stressed that Palestine will remain loyal to Iraq, maintain and strengthen the privacy of the relationship with him, and always remember the martyrs that the Iraqi army presented on the land of Palestine.

Al-Maliki said - in the same press conference - that "his visit to Iraq comes after the end of the Israeli aggression on Gaza." And he continued, "We came to Baghdad to coordinate the upcoming positions," pointing out that "Al-Aqsa Mosque is being violated daily, and the next battle is to end the Israeli occupation."

He stressed that "Palestine derives composure, strength and violence from the Iraqi people," noting that "Iraq is loyal and supportive of Palestine."

The Palestinian minister praised the historic support that Iraq provides to Palestine, adding, "We are confident that Iraq, as we have been accustomed, will continue to stand by Palestine and support it in these difficult times."

In turn, the Iraqi president reaffirmed "the importance of the Palestinian issue, its conscientiousness and sanctity for the government and people of Iraq, and his commitment to his firm stance on the Palestinian issue."


Al-Maliki briefed the Iraqi president "with a picture of the current events in the Palestinian arena, and the continuing crimes of the occupation against the Palestinians in all the Palestinian territories."

The Palestinian minister arrived in Baghdad at noon on Sunday, and he is also scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, Parliament Speaker Muhammad Al-Halbousi, and leaders of political blocs and parties, as Iraqi officials will reaffirm Iraq's steadfast position in support of the Palestinian people and support for its resistance to the Israeli occupation.

Yesterday, Saturday, the Iraqi leaders affirmed their country's absolute support for the steadfastness and struggle of the Palestinian people for their freedom and dignity.

In turn, Al-Halbousi said, "We meet after achieving victory for our Palestinian brothers with the end of the 11-day war, which ended with the legend of the Iron Dome and the lie of the army, which is classified among the most powerful armies in the world, in front of the will, steadfastness and steadfastness of our brave Palestinian brothers."

Iraq had condemned the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, and declared its full support for all international steps to stabilize Palestinian rights.

The Iraqis expressed their support for the Palestinian people with massive demonstrations organized in Baghdad to denounce the Israeli aggression, and last Thursday morning, a convoy of Iraqi demonstrators headed to the Iraqi-Jordanian borders, to demand that they be allowed to enter Jordan and from there to Palestine to support its people there, while the Iraqi Ministry of Health announced its intention to send Medical teams to the Palestinian Territories, to support those affected by the Israeli aggression.

And at dawn on Friday, a ceasefire came into effect between the Palestinian factions in Gaza and Israel, 11 days after the Israeli aggression on the Strip.


The Israeli aggression resulted in 279 martyrs, including 69 children, 40 women, and 17 elderly, while it led to more than 8 thousand and 900 injuries, of which 90 were classified as very dangerous.
