It was the man's relatives who reported him missing.

His car was found in Årjäng after the disappearance, but he must be a resident of another place.

On May 20, a preliminary investigation was launched into suspected kidnapping.

On Sunday, the case was reclassified to murder.

According to a press release from the police, it is due to "the time that has elapsed since the man disappeared and information in the investigation that indicates that the man was in a threatening situation at the time of the disappearance."

Suspected of kidnapping

Two people, a man and a woman, are suspected in the case, however, for kidnapping.

They are reasonably suspicious.

The two are already in custody for theft in another case.

The case is being led by prosecutor Niclas Wargren.

- We have strong reasons to believe that they have been with the missing person at some point in the last time before he disappears, says Niclas Wargren to SVT Nyheter Värmland.

The prosecutor emphasizes that they are suspected of kidnapping, and nothing else in the case.

- And that suspicion is also very, very weak, he says.

In the clip above, you can hear what prosecutor Niclas Wargren says about the case, including why they chose to change the heading to murder.
