President Moon Jae-in returned home through Seoul Airport after completing his three-night, five-day visit to the United States on the evening of the 23rd.

At the first summit meeting with President Joe Biden held at the White House in the early morning of the 22nd, President Moon agreed to resolve issues on the Korean Peninsula through dialogue and diplomacy, establish a global vaccine partnership, and strengthen cooperation in supply chains in new industries such as semiconductors and batteries.

It was decided to expand the role of the ROK-US alliance in responding to global challenges such as the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19).

In particular, the ROK-US economic alliance has been further strengthened through this summit meeting.

Apart from the summit, President Moon attended the Korea-US business roundtable on the 21st and the Korea-US vaccine company partnership event on the 22nd, attended by the top executives of major companies such as semiconductors, batteries, automobiles, and vaccines from both countries on the 21st.

As a result, domestic semiconductor and battery companies' investment plans (worth about 44 trillion won) were announced, and Samsung Biologics signed a contract for consignment production of a modal screw vaccine and various memorandums of understanding for vaccine research and development.

President Moon also attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Arlington National Cemetery and the commemoration of the Korean War dead.

President Biden also joined the Korean War hero with an honorary medal, the highest honor in the U.S. military.

President Moon is scheduled to meet again with President Biden at the G7 (7 major countries) summit in the UK on June 11-13.
