The President of the Republic entered the bunker hall of the Ucciardone prison where today the Capaci massacre is remembered. The president of the Nello Musumeci Region, the president of Ars Gianfranco Miccichè, the mayor of Palermo Leoluca Orlando and the president of the Falcone Maria Falcone Foundation welcomed the head of state.
With the hymn of Mameli performed by the orchestra of the students of the magistral Regina Margherita, the celebration for the anniversary of the massacre opened in the port of Palermo.
On the quay Maria Falcone, sister of the murdered judge and the minister of education Patrizio Bianchi. For the second consecutive year due to Covid it was not possible to organize the arrival of the ships of Legality with schoolchildren from all over Italy.
The Minister of the Interior Luciana Lamorgese, accompanied by the Chief of Police Lamberto Giannini, placed a laurel wreath at the commemorative Stele of Capaci, on the Palermo-Mazara del Vallo motorway, in memory of the victims of the attack of 23 May 1992.
