- I understand if you think it takes too long, says Jonas Bäckstrand, the Accident Investigation Board's Deputy Director General, to the radio.

The previously unknown holes in the hull were discovered when documentary filmmakers went down with a diving robot.

This led to demands for new investigations into the Estonia disaster that occurred in 1994.

The law on grave peace at the wreck has been amended by the government to enable new investigations.

The government has also allocated an extra SEK 21.5 million to the Accident Investigation Board in the spring amendment budget to carry out dives in 2021. But these dives will only investigate bottom conditions at the site.

- We need to consider whether, for example, we need to move certain parts of bottom material to access in a good way, says Jonas Bäckstrand.
