Talk about calming down

In terms of talking about a ceasefire agreement, Hamas confirmed that it did not give approval to a proposal for a ceasefire with Israel, on Thursday, but said that there are serious efforts and contacts from mediators to reach a lull.

A member of the Political Bureau, Izzat al-Rishq, said in a tweet on Twitter, "It is not correct what some enemy media reported that Hamas agreed to a ceasefire on Thursday," stressing that no agreement or specific timings for the cease-fire had been reached.

And Hebrew media reported, on Tuesday, that Egypt had submitted a proposal for a truce between Israel and the Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip, to be effective as of Thursday.

The private Hebrew Channel-12 had said that Cairo had proposed to start the truce as of 6 am on Thursday, and added that Hamas had agreed to the proposal.

In the same context, the American newspaper Politico quoted an informed source as saying that the end of the conflict may come in stages, with an initial halt to the exchange of missiles.

The newspaper pointed out that US officials urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his aides to end the operations against the Gaza Strip.
