19 May 2021 The investigating judge of Agrigento Alessandra Vella has decided to accept the request of the Public Prosecutor and to file the accusations against the commander of the Sea Watch 3 ship Carola Rackete who in July 2019, despite the blocking of landings decided by the Italian government, decided to enter in the port of Lampedusa and disembarked the migrants rescued at sea by the ship.

The German activist had been arrested for resistance or violence against a warship because while docking she had collided with a patrol boat.

"We asked not to try Carola Rackete and we adapted to the decision of the investigating judge to release her two years ago, confirmed by the Supreme Court", explained the prosecutor of Agrigento, Luigi Patronaggio. Application accepted by the investigating judge Alessandra Vella who archived the file.
