As noted, both sides expressed interest in an early settlement of the border incident through negotiations.

Putin stressed that Moscow, as a mediator, actively contributes to the normalization of the situation.

Earlier, Putin had a telephone conversation with the leader of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced Russia's readiness to become a mediator in the discussion of the demarcation of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
