May 19, 2021 "It is expected that on May 28 the EMA will issue the authorization for the Pfizer vaccine for the age group 12-15. For the moment, only this immunizer is expected from the age of 16, the others from 18" . This was stated by the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, responding to a question in the Chamber.

"It is a very important fact - underlined the minister - because vaccinating young people is highly strategic and is essential for the safe reopening of the next school year". And he added: "We await the decision of the EMA also to give more information on these age groups".

"To date - continued Speranza - as is known, almost a third of Italians have had a first dose administered, and this is an important and encouraging data. We have reached approximately 28.5 million doses administered. We have protected in our plan in first and foremost the weakest, the frail, the elderly, people who encountered the virus could have a higher risk. Today the theme of going clearly to the other generations arises with great relevance. In the coming phase we have about 20 million doses that will be available for the month of June, and this can certainly allow us to extend vaccinations to other generations ".
