In the middle of the week there are mostly positive data on the corona pandemic in Hesse.
As everywhere in Germany, the infection rate is also cooling down in the centrally located federal state.
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) once again reports fewer new cases than a week ago and noticeably fewer unresolved infections than the day before.
After an intermediate spurt, Hessen has continued its climbing tour in the ranking of the first vaccination rates of the federal states.
The country lagged for weeks, now it is just above average.
It looks worse with those who have been vaccinated.

The incidence, as the central corona indicator, is also clearly above the level in the federal government. Only four federal states come off worse. There are also significantly more new infections among 100,000 inhabitants that became known within a week than at the beginning of March, when the federal and state governments decided on the latest lockdown. As before, the incidence is above the 100 mark in more regions, which causes nighttime curfews, than below 50, which allows fewer restrictions, as follows from the concept of the country (see table in the link). After all, people in the Hochtaunus, for example, but also in Wetterau, Vogelsberg and the Darmstadt area can expect more easing in view of the comparatively low incidences.
Meanwhile, general practitioners have to cope with the expectations that Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) at the federal level and the Hesse Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians have awakened to vaccination appointments with the AstraZeneca product. The KV uses the slogan “Whoever wants, he can” to advertise a quick four-week vaccination with the AstraZeneca active ingredient in general practitioners' practices. But this is not more than a call from the KVH to the resident doctors, there is no list of who takes part in the action, says a spokesman for the association.
The Hessian health authorities reported new positive PCR tests that became known to the RKI 1169 overnight, which is almost 400 fewer than a week ago.
280,751 people in Hesse have officially contracted the corona virus since the pandemic began in the spring of last year.
That is 4.3 percent of the country's population.
Around 16,800 cases are not yet over, i.e. still active.
That is 500 less than the day before.
24 more deaths in connection with the pandemic are to be mourned after eleven to seven days.
All in all, according to the RKI, 7175 people have died of or with Covid-19 in the centrally located state since the beginning of the pandemic.
According to the RKI, the incidence fell from a good 87 to 82 overnight. A week ago it was 117. For the federal average, the institute shows a value of 73. At the beginning of March, before the most recent lockdown, it was 65. Only Thuringia, Baden-Württemberg and Saxony and, more recently, Saarland have a higher index than Hesse. Schleswig-Holstein continues to do best with 32.
In Hesse, however, one region is now even below this value and that is the Wetterau with 28. Under the mark 50 there are still the Hochtaunus with 47 and Darmstadt-Dieburg with 47. These regions are colored orange on the corona map from the RKI and Ministry of Social Affairs.
On the ministry's map, regions with a value over 100 have recently started to appear blue, although this color is commonly used to represent cold.
Regions with a comparatively cooled infection process, on the other hand, are colored dark or cherry red.
37.5 percent of the Hessians with the first vaccination
37.5 percent of people in Hessen have received their first preventive injection against the coronavirus. That is a tenth more than the federal average. So Hessen has clearly caught up. The front runner is the Saarland with 41.8; Rhineland-Palatinate comes in at 35.7. For the fully vaccinated, however, Hessen lags behind the federal mean. Hessen has 10.2 percent, which is 1.2 percentage points below the average.
