Emmanuel Macron, declaring to be part of "the 68 million coaches" in France, greeted Wednesday "the good choice" of Didier Deschamps, who recalled Karim Benzema in the French team for the Euro football.
"I have complete confidence in Didier Deschamps: first of all, he showed that he knew how to choose a collective, that he then knew how to lead it, with results in the end. I think he made the good choices, "said the Head of State during a trip to the Aube to mark the start of the reopening of sports activities.
Regarding more specifically the Real Madrid striker, Mr. Macron praised "his quality of player, the maturity he has acquired" and "his ability to fit into this collective".
"I see the collective enthusiasm and therefore I am very happy for the players who are selected. I will have the opportunity to congratulate a few of them this evening in the final (of the Coupe de France) and I think that 'he (Deschamps) put us on paper the best possible team and that it is now necessary that the chemistry is tied between them so that above all they win it, because that is the objective. "
Karim Benzema, 33 years old and author of an excellent season with Real Madrid, was recalled Tuesday after five and a half years of absence following his involvement in the case of the sextape of his former teammate in selection Mathieu Valbuena.
According to Mr. Macron, "there are two terrible positions" in France: "President of the Republic and coach of the France team" because there are "68 million people who are convinced that they had better ideas or a better selection in mind ".
