The Haaretz newspaper reports that a ceasefire is expected to take effect "within a few days" and refers to anonymous Israeli political sources.

- There are no decisive results and there will not be either.

We are all tired, says the source to the newspaper.

A Hebrew television channel claims that Egypt has a negotiated proposal for a ceasefire to take effect at 6 o'clock on Thursday morning.

According to an article in the Times of Israel, Hamas is said to have agreed to the proposal, but Israel has not yet responded.

However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier on Tuesday reiterated his earlier statement that attacks on Gaza will continue for as long as necessary to "restore calm to Israeli citizens."

Since the beginning of the violence last Monday, at least 213 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip and 12 people in Israel.
