    1. Corona vaccination of children is getting closer

Chancellor Merkel wants to discuss this with the Prime Minister on May 27th.

Hessen is planning vaccinations before the summer holidays.

    Biontech:

The only vaccine manufacturer that could soon offer vaccinations for children from the age of 12 is the Mainz-based company in association with the American pharmaceutical company Pfizer. Admission has not yet been decided. The Chancellor would like to discuss with the Prime Minister next week, Thursday, how to deal with the expected approval.

    Hessen:

The state has already decided on very specific ideas about child vaccinations. From June 28th to July 19th, the pupils are to be vaccinated in the vaccination centers. By the end of the summer holidays, if possible, all students at the age of twelve should have received a vaccination offer. The federal government has promised sufficient vaccine for this. The pediatricians advocate vaccination in their practices. Vaccination campaigns in schools are also discussed.

    Counterfeiting:

The federal government wants to take stricter action against forgery of vaccination passports. There should be a fine and up to two years imprisonment for issuing false vaccination documents, the use of forged documents should be punishable by imprisonment of up to one year or a fine. This change in the Infection Protection Act is to be decided this week as well as the elimination of the requirement for children under the age of 6 to wear an FFP2 mask. In the absence of suitable masks, a surgical mask is sufficient. Existing state regulations on masks continue to apply. CDU / CSU candidate for Chancellor and NRW Prime Minister Armin Laschet announced that he would speak in the state parliament this Wednesday about prospects and future opportunities for children and young people after the corona pandemic.

    2. Fear of the Indian mutation

In Great Britain one can see what Germany may still have to do.

    The spread of variant B.1.617.

    Dominant:

The Indian variant is already dominant in the first districts in England.

How contagious it is and how much the Astra-Zeneca vaccine, which is mainly used in the UK, works against it is still unclear.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has therefore initially made further opening steps in the kingdom conditional.

Biontech has so far been confident that the vaccine will also work against the Indian variant.

    Velbert:

In the Mettmann district, two high-rise buildings have been quarantined because the Indian variant was found there. It still "only" represents 2 percent of infections in Germany and the British variant for 92 percent. However, the Indian mutation could develop into the dominant variant and is classified as "worrying" by the World Health Organization.
