China protested over passage of US destroyer through Taiwan Strait

"On May 18, the American destroyer USS Curtis Wilbur passed through the Taiwan Strait," TASS reports.

As noted, "the actions of the American side give false signals to the forces supporting the so-called independence of Taiwan, create deliberate interference and destabilize the situation in the region, and undermine peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait."

“We are strongly opposed to this,” added the PLA spokesman.

In April, an aircraft carrier group of the PRC army held exercises near Taiwan.
