- It feels good and I am surprised, but it is very fun, says Saga Pettersson who is in eighth grade at Vislandaskolan in Alvesta municipality.

Her invention, which now has a chance to win first, second or third prize in the national inventor competition for young people, consists of a voice-controlled app for the mobile phone that both emits a loud sound if someone tries to take it and at the same time the position can be seen on a map and the police are alerted.

"Dragon Nest Jury" nominated entries

It all started six months before the competition with the students at Vislandaskolan starting to discuss and think about what they lacked in their everyday lives.

Throughout the autumn, inventions were discussed which were then presented.

The school's own jury then selected two students' ideas that were allowed to go ahead and present their invention to the school's "Dragon Nest Jury" which consists of the local business community.

After that, all ideas were sent to the big Finn Upp competition in Sweden.

"Feels like it's needed"

Out of about 500 entries, the national jury has now selected 20 who will attend an award ceremony at the Nobel Prize Museum in Stockholm next Monday.

Only then does Saga know how high on the "podium" she ends up.

- There is nothing like it, and it feels like an app like this is needed, she says.
