“Two strategic missile carriers Tu-160 of Long-Range Aviation performed a planned flight in airspace over the neutral waters of the Barents Sea,” RIA Novosti reports.

It is noted that "the fighter escort was provided by the crews of the MiG-31 aircraft of the Air Force and Air Defense Association of the Northern Fleet."

The department reported that the flight duration was more than seven hours.

The Ministry of Defense said that Long-Range Aviation crews regularly fly over the neutral waters of the Arctic, North Atlantic, Black and Baltic Seas, and the Pacific Ocean.

The ministry stressed that all flights of aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces are carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace.

Earlier it was reported that two Russian strategic missile carriers Tu-95MS performed a scheduled flight over the neutral waters of the Black Sea.
