According to the County Administrative Board, sun and heat have contributed to reduced the spread of bird flu.

The Swedish Board of Agriculture's decision to lower the level of protection for birds kept for their own consumption, use or as pets means, among other things, that hobby hens can now roam free again.

- A gratifying message that I think many have been waiting for.

At the same time, the risk of introducing bird flu is still increased and it is important to maintain infection control and, among other things, give the hobby chickens feed and water under cover, says county veterinarian Agneta Karlsson Norström on the County Administrative Board of Gotland's site.

For commercial facilities, however, protection level 2 still applies:
