While more and less dark clouds chase each other in the Hessian sky and the sun often takes their place, the corona infection process continues to brighten.

The health authorities have again reported fewer new cases to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) than seven days ago and fewer deaths in connection with the pandemic.

It should be noted that at the beginning of the week, the numbers are always influenced by the delay in reporting to test laboratories that do not work on weekends.

In addition, the RKI reports the data later than it is available to the respective district or city.

That leads to a certain dent.

Regardless of this, the incidence is falling. For Hessen, the RKI 87 reports positive PCR tests among 100,000 residents that have become known within a week. Such a low value was last seen in Hesse in mid-March during the lockdown. In addition, there are two orange spots on the Ministry of Social Affairs' Corona map, they stand for regions with a code number below 50. However, the incidence is still above the federal average and also significantly above the level at the beginning of March when the lockdown was decided was; there it was 20 points lower. Only three federal states come off worse. And there are still eight bruises on the map with more than 100 new cases within a week under 100,000 people. Last but not least, Hessian clinics have to continue to ventilate almost 200 corona patients invasively.

According to the RKI, 240 new corona cases are in the statistics after 423 seven days ago. Since the pandemic began a good 14 months ago, officially 279,582 people in Hesse have been infected with the corona virus. That is 4.2 percent of the country's population. The incidence of 87 is nine points above the federal average. Only Thuringia, Saxony and Baden-Württemberg have a higher index. Schleswig-Holstein is best at 33.

The Wetterau is now doing almost as well; it has an incidence of just under 40. In second place is the Darmstadt-Dieburg district with a good 49. 15 of the 21 districts are now below the incidence mark 100, the same applies to three of the five large cities, including recently Frankfurt and Offenbach. The highest indicators are attributable to Kassel with 135 and the district of Fulda with almost 129. The Rhineland-Palatinate state capital Mainz, located to the left of the Rhine, is still just above 100, and the trend is also falling here.

Which rules apply in which Hessian region can be found on the information page of the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs.

In Darmstadt and the Darmstadt-Dieburg district, in the Hochtaunus and in the Wetterau as well as in the Rheingau-Taunus and in the Vogelsberg, hosts have been able to serve guests again since Monday, but who need a fresh negative corona test.

The same applies to “Click and Meet” shopping.

According to the Divi intensive care register, 355 people in Hesse were treated for Covid-19 in intensive care units in Hessian hospitals on Tuesday.

181 of them had to be invasively ventilated after 197 five days ago.

According to the information, 1681 of the 1925 available intensive care beds are currently occupied, including patients with other diseases, as reported by the dpa.

37 percent of Hessians with the first vaccination

37 percent of people in Hessen have received their first preventive injection against the coronavirus. This now corresponds to the federal average. So Hessen has caught up. The front runner is the Saarland with 41.4; Rhineland-Palatinate comes in at 35.3. Hessen lags behind the federal mean for the fully vaccinated. Hessen has 10.2 percent, which is one percentage point below the average.
