“Accordingly, this will also be a serious problem for many Russian Internet resources,” the expert explained.
At the same time, he stressed that the slowdown in Twitter has borne fruit.
“If YouTube and Facebook don’t change their minds, they will also be slowed down.
This, in turn, will be a very serious blow to users, ”Zykov added.
The specialist noted that people are already accustomed to using these social networks and will look for any alternative resources.
According to him, today these are VKontakte, Rutube and Yandex.Zen, possibly TikTok.
In his opinion, if Roskomnadzor decides to impose restrictions on YouTube and Facebook, then this "story will be much louder" than the story from Twitter.
“But I want to believe that it will not come to this, and the sites will still comply with the requirements of the supervisory authority, as required by Russian legislation,” the specialist concluded.
Earlier it became known that Roskomnadzor partially removed the traffic slowdown from the Twitter microblogging service due to the fact that it partially complied with the department's requirements.
As specified, we are talking, among other things, about the removal of prohibited materials.
At the same time, it was reported that Roskomnadzor revealed cases of posting illegal materials on other social networks, including Facebook and YouTube.
If these platforms do not take appropriate measures, they may be subject to the same sanctions as Twitter, the department warned.
