The Paris Bourse started the week in the red (-0.28%) on Monday, held back by investor speculation about central banks' intentions in the face of resurgent inflation.

The flagship CAC 40 index lost 17.79 points to 6,367.35 points.

On Friday, it finished sharply up 1.54%.

After an opening in small increase, the Parisian place quickly turned red, after three consecutive positive sessions.

"Anything that reinforces the scenario of inflation which would continue to rise in the coming months, which would perhaps be less transitory than what is expected, causes the market to speculate" on the next communications from the Fed and the ECB, underlines to AFP Alexandre Baradez, analyst at IG France.

"We have the impression that as long as the market does not have precise details on a kind of timetable for the evolution of asset purchases, it remains" in an uncertainty "which will slow it down a bit" and "push it forward. to consolidate, "he adds.

Investors continue on the one hand to bet on the economic recovery favored by the success of the anti-Covid vaccination campaigns but on the other, they keep in mind that an inflation slippage could cause a monetary tightening faster than 'discount.

Central bankers keep repeating that normalization of monetary policy is not imminent, but what if economic conditions continue to improve by the end of the year?

In this context, the minutes of the last monetary policy meeting of the Fed, expected Wednesday, will be closely scrutinized.

Especially since "there is a little less certainty on the transitory side of inflation" lately on the side of the American Central Bank, notes Mr. Baradez, "the discourse of central bankers is changing a little" .

Stellantis suspense on a partnership

Stellantis finished at the top of the CAC 40 (+ 1.60% to 15.10 euros).

The automobile group, resulting from the recent merger of Peugeot-Citroën and Fiat-Chrysler, and the Taiwanese giant of the manufacture of electronic products Foxconn are to announce Tuesday a "strategic partnership".

Sanofi positive

The pharmaceutical group Sanofi gained 1.06% to 87.64 euros after positive results from a phase 2 clinical trial of its main candidate vaccine against Covid-19, developed with the British GSK.

Agribusiness in shape

The distribution giant Carrefour rose 1.38% to 17.29 euros, followed by the agri-food group Danone (+ 1.29% to 58.29 euros).

The appointment of a new CEO of Danone was "imminent" Monday and the name of Antoine de Saint-Affrique held the rope to lead the group recently shaken by a governance crisis and the ousting of the former CEO Emmanuel Faber.
