France Insoumise has given up presenting itself to the regional ones in Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur, for lack of alliance with the other left-wing parties and in order not to "add to the chaos that is brewing" in a region where the National Gathering could prevail.

"Despite all our attempts until Monday, May 17, the last day of the submission of regional lists, EELV, the PS and the PCF have maintained their decision to exclude rebellious France", writes the party of Jean-Luc Mélenchon in a statement released on Monday.

"A disaster that is organized"

For several months LFI had been working within the collective “Il est temps” for a union of the left and citizens collectives.

But EELV, the PS and the PCF will finally leave alone, without LFI and without the citizen collectives, on a list known as the Ecological and Social Rally led by the ecologist Jean-Laurent Felizia.

“Faced with such irresponsibility, we will not add to the chaos that is brewing.

Aware of the seriousness of the moment, we decide not to add a list and one more competition which adds to the disaster that is being organized, ”commented LFI, specifying not to give any voting instructions.

The LFI list was only credited with 5 to 7% of the voting intentions, against 14 to 21% for the EELV-PS-PCF list according to the polls.

“The reality is we didn't agree with LFI on the top of the list.

They wanted a head of the citizen list and us an environmentalist, ”said Nathalie Morand, the spokesperson for this left-wing rally list.
